The Italian Association for the Analysis of Stresses, was founded in 1971 and is made up of members from universities, research institutes, and industry that work in the field of analysis of stresses.
The association's purpose is to contribute to the development of scientific and technical knowledge in the field of analysis of stresses by:
- spreading, within the areas of science and industry, the knowledge and applications of experimental numeric techniques of the analysis of materials, structures and systems behaviours.
- the promotion of the activity of research and regulations, also with the setting up of Work Groups.
Work Groups are helped by members from various parts of the country. Work Groups can also be helped by a non-member of the association.
AIAS also:
- organizes a Convention every year on analysis of stresses, methods and applications.
- organizes teaching and refresher courses.
- takes care of international relations with scientific and technical organizations (for ex. Permanent Committee for Experimental Mechanics, IMEKO - TC15 Exp. Mech., Danubia
- takes care of the certifications in the fields of strain gage with the collaboration of CICPND.
- takes care of the institution of awards for the active members in the interests of the association.
AIAS members are available and interested in extending their scientific collaborations and the possibility of applying metrologies and scientific technologies to the analysis of stresses and are willing to consider collaboration opportunities with the professional and industrial world.
